Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 22months old have been running loose stools since 2am yesterday. Initially the stool was watery greenish with mucous and he was running temperature @ 38degrees I took him to the hospital doc gave him ors zinc pcm bco andsulphaguanidine. It stopped around 9am but started again! About 12:30 am this morning this time very dark watery with mucouse and flake like. Pls help sir
I think he is having gastroenteritis. Don't worry about green stools with flakes because they are caused by the fast passage of food in the gastrointestinal tract. They show indigested food particles. He may need to do a stool sample to check for bacterial infection. Probably he may need antibiotics. You can take simethicone for gas diahorrea and bloating. Keep him hydrated giving lots of fluids and water. You can give him tresol to replace fluids.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
