Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi! My son is 4 months old and is mostly breastfed with a little milk based formula supplement. He recently has been popping a frothy green poop 2-4 times a day and yesterday and today there were white spots in there as well! This started last week after we were in a car accident! Prior to that his poops were yellow and happening every other day! Thoughts?
Green stools are common in children and may indicate a faster than usual transit of the stools in the bowel. As a result, the bile content goes out unabsorbed and cause the green color.
Sometimes, this may be due to indigestion but many times no real important cause is present. Because he is exclusively breastfead then there is nothing to worry about. You should just feed him as usual and if he is not better in 1-2 weeks or you notice any new symptoms please send him to see the doctor.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj General and Family Physician
