What Causes Green Stool With Mucus?

Hello Dr, My kid is 52 days old. He is having foamy watery greenish motion with mucus and foul smell for past 3 days. He passed nearly 10 times yesterday. and he passed nearly 6 times from 12 am till morning 10 am today. He is passing motion immediate after every feed. I am only breastfeeding. But he is not fully completing the feed in one side. There is no fever. My doctor advised to give Nutrolin B 1.5ml for 3 times a day for 3 days. But he did not listen fully and knows all the symptoms. Please advise. Regards, Shyamla

Hello,

Extensive diarrhea in such a small child can be very serious due to possible dehydration. Normally children less than 2-3 months old with severe diarrhea should be monitored by a medical professional to prevent and treat potential dehydration.
Yout children need electrolytes as much as they need fluids so it is important that they substitute these well. The best way to do so is by using oral rehydration solutions if the child is just mildly dehydrated and in moderate to severe dehydration hospitalization is needed.
