What Causes Greenish Yellow Vomitus And Cramps Around The Mouth?

My mother has been vomiting up since 10am this morning and said her vomit was greenish yellow I m color and was really sour. She has not ate anything and has only been drinking water and ginger ale. Her vomit is now clear and she says it no longer tastes sour. She feels cold from time to time. She also mentioned that this morning it felt as if she had cramps around her mouth and it felt as if her face was stretching. She refuses to go to the hospital at the moment since she says she s starting to feel better but I am worried and wondering if you know some thing that can help.

Hi,

Noted the history about your Mother having vomiting, greenish yellow in the beginning then clear, cramps around mouth and so on as you have mentioned.
The greenish yellow vomitus indicates bile which comes from small intestine to stomach to the mouth but since the vomitus is clear now, the chances of small bowel obstruction causing vomiting is less.
The vomitus is rich in electrolytes drawn from the serum hence lots of vomitus reduce the electrolytes in blood thus causing circumoral tingling, sensation that patient may not be in a position to clearly explain. This also indicates the need to give her electrolyte solution in oral form if the vomiting stops ot intravenous route and thus helps recover fast.
She also needs to take a PPI like Pantoprazole, Domperidone for vomiting and so on.
