What Causes Grey Discharge From The Ear Of A Child?
My 5 year old may have an ear infection. I used Debrox 3 days to remove wax from her ear (she has a lot of wax usually), and I forgot to look in her ear the last 3 days, but tonight i looked in and saw bits of wax on the sides of the canal but inside (in the middle of the canal) there appeared to be grey discharge. I also used a prepared garlic oil in olive oil drops 3 days ago (after the debrox), and also tonight, after I observed the grey discharge.
Understanding your concern. As per your query your daughter have symptoms of grey discharge from the ear. Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to many reasons like infection, poor hygiene, excessive wax accumulation, trauma , swimmer's ear , mastoiditis and malignant otitis. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order tests like CT scan , blood test and examination with otoscope . Doctor may clean ear with saline solution , prescribe antibiotics ( gentamicin ) at least for a week along with anti inflammatory . Keep your ear dry , which is very important. You should avoid touching or pricking ear with any sharp object.
Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
