What Causes Grinding And Popping Sound In Shoulder Blade?
Hello. For quite a while I have been having a problem with my left shoulder. It grinds and pops when ever I move it, and whenever I preform a quick, jerking motion with reasonable power, for example; throwing a baseball, it feels like it s close to coming out of it s socket. I ve been told that I could just be loose jointed, but I don t think that s what happening.
You have so well explained your symptoms of feeling that the shoulder joint will get dislocated when throwing a baseball, grinding and popping sound on movements. All your history is suggestive of one of the following: - Arthritis of the shoulder joint. Periarthritis. Shoulder girdle compose of muscles and ligament problems
The best way to get a proper diagnosis are through MRI of the shoulder joint, which is by far the best investigation. Examination by an orthopedic surgeon particularly the one experienced in shoulder joints should help you the best. Once a proper diagnosis is done then the treatment will be as per the findings. Till then stop using this joint. Rest the forearm in a sling. Get blood calcium and Vitamin D levels.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
