What Causes Growth In The Small Mole On Neck?

Over the last 24-48 hours, the small mole that I have had on my neck has become at least 3 times larger than it's always been and it's painful. What could cause it to change in size so quickly and become painful? Stress? Diet?? Should I have cause for concern?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain first of all I would like to tell you about moles..
Human body has pigment producing cells known as Melanocytes that imparts the skin colour..
In some areas the cells get accumulated in large numbers leading to formation of small pigmented raised areas in form of small lumps known as Moles..
Moles are generally assymptomatic..
But in case if moles become painful or there is change in colour, texture or size it needs immediate examination and even a biopsy might be advised..
In your case as the mole is swollen and painful it can be due to underlying infection and abscess formation...

I would suggest you to consult you to consult a Dermatologist and get evaluated and he can do a clinical examination and if required do a biopsy for confirmation..
In case of infection antibiotics, anti-inflammatory painkillers and cool compresses along with topical application of antibiotic and steroid ointment can be advised..
At times surgical excision of mole under local anaesthesia can be done..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
