What Causes Hair Fall And Baldness In Family?

Hi,
Everyone in my nuclear family has been losing their hair…to the point where the scalp is showing. No one knows what is causing it. My brother moved out of the state but he has the same problem. I have to have my hair a certain way so the bald spot does not show. Do you know what this could be?

Hello,

I have gone through your query and you seem to be having androgenetic alopecia.

It is a hereditary type of hair loss which occurs due to genetic and hormonal factors. I would recommend you to apply minoxidil 5 per cent lotion on the affected areas of the scalp twice daily.

This needs to be continued for at least 4-5 months to see significant results.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Asmeet Kaur Sawhney, Dermatologist
