What Causes Hair In Center Of Armpit To Be White?

In the middle section of my armpit the hair is growing in white and very course or like wire. It almost seems coated. I don t sweat much, so I don t use antipersperent. The rest of the armpit hair is normal. I do have a small lump the size of a egg just below my armpit under my arm. It is soft not hard and not attached to the bone. I ve been told that the lump is common and could be fatty tissue. Why is the hair white?

Hello,
Welcome to healthcare magic,
You could be having trichomycosis axillaris, a common superficial bacterial colonization of the axillary hair shafts.
Best treatment is to shave the hair.Topical antibiotic preparations such as clindamycin or erythromycin also are effective. Using an anti-perspirant is a good idea to prevent episodes in the future.
Hope this helped,
Take care.
