What Causes Hair Thinning After Splenectomy?

hi.. i had a splenectomy in 1993 and i have had alopecia since. however, just in the last 6 months i am now having all my hair breaking and thinning real quick.. what should i be getting for blood tests, prescriptions, hormone tests, vitamins etc? i am panicking
