What Causes Hallucinations During Sleep?

For the past two nights I ve been having a strange sensation -- sort of an hallucination. One night I woke up to find an old, skinny, disheveled man drinking a noxious-looking green liquid from a glass. The vision disappeared quickly. Last night I woke to see two large insects on my upper arm -- one red and one purple. I called out to my husband to look at them and then swept them (I thought) off my arm and then went back to sleep. I m a little anxious about going to sleep tonight.
