What Causes Hard Lump And Pain At Injection Site?

Two weeks ago I had my armpit abscess removed(it was the size of a tennis ball) at hospital,before they cut it open I was given a pain relieve injection which was done on my right buttock.everything looked successfully but after two days there was still a pain then another two days I noticed a reddish ball size lump now its increasing and painful hard lump sometimes cant sleep or sit properly with my right side..pls help I m soo scared

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems like when the injection was given the pricking needle has caused traumatic injury to the soft tissues as well as terminal nerve fibres leading to inflammation and pain..
The red inflamed lump seems to be due to inflamed soft tissues as well as the injection needle might have caused rupture to small blood vessels leading to Hematoma formation and the hematoma gets encapsulated with ruptured fibres, inflammatory cells and broken blood vessels..
Nothing to panic, you can take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, apply a numbing gel containing Lignocaine, do alternate warm and cool compresses and apply Heparin containing gel for faster disruption of clot and regression of the lump..
You can also apply a steroid gel to reduce inflammation and eventually pain will reduce..
