What Causes Hard Lump On Arm Along With Mild Pain Radiating Down The Fingers?

Hello, I have been bitten by a horse fly near the top of my upper arm, there is swelling (hard lump) approx 2 to 3 long, I can feel a slight pain travelling down my arm to my fingers and up through the side of my neck, I have put antihistamine cream on and just wondered if there is anything else i should be doing

Hi,

Most likely this is an allergic reaction to the bite. If there is no rash or itching elsewhere in the body, you can try taking an anti inflammatory agent and antihistamine for 3-5 days.

I used to give ibuprofen tab 3 times daily after food, along with hydroxyzine 25mg 3 times a day for such cases(there can be some sedation).

If the pain and swelling is not coming down by 2nd or 3rd days, the area becomes red/hot, or fever comes, kindly see your doctor, as this may need addition of a steroid or antibiotic depending on the case.
