What Causes Hard Lump On The Knee Post Skin Gash From Injury?

Yes, i had fallen and landed on a piece of thick broken glass. I had a pretty good size gash.. about 1 x .5 .. i probably could have used a couple stitches, but did not. The cut is 2 or so from my knee cap. Well, it has a hard bump right where the cut is.. it stifks out like another knee. What is the damage..?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to underlying hematoma. For this applying ice packs will be helpful. You can apply 15 minutes at a time off and on. It can be repeated 3 to 4 times daily. If you have any severe pain or restricted movement you should get it examined by an orthopedician and do a X ray to rule out any fracture or cracks. In case swelling is more aspiration should be done also.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
