What Causes Hard Lumps On Jaw After The Extraction Of Wisdom Tooth?

Help ): I had my wisdom teeth removed a week ago. Swelling went down, but now I have hard lumps located on my jaw line on both sides. I am terrified and experiencing a lot of anxiety. I got antibiotics because the dentist said I have an infection. But I keep seeing people saying they had the same thing and it s lasted for 10 months?!!!!! What is going on ):

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
I can understand the plight you are going through.
This is but uncommon to get such lumps after extraction of the tooth if you are under antibiotic coverage.
This indicates nothing serious like a cancer or so, hence do not worry and unnecessarily be under anxiety.
This happens after extraction as the new wound is created by removing the tooth and oral cavity is full of bacteria which get chance to travel to the lymph nodes and increase them.

I would advise you the following:
Ask your Dentist to change over to another broad spectrum antibiotic, a good anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen in an appropriate dosage for 7 days. I hope this will all just settle.

This should not take 10 months.
You can change over to another antibiotic if required.
Take liquid diet till the intra-oral wound is healed .
