What Causes Hard Swollen Lymph Nodes On Right Side Of The Neck?

My 17 year old son has swollen nymph nodes on the right side of neck. Had night sweats last week. Went to local clinic, they drew blood but no results yet. They took chest X-ray and said it was clear, but they are going to order a CT scan. I m scared. Everything I read doesn t sound good. The lumps are hard and about 1 inch to 1/2 inch in diameter. What is the CT scan for? Local clinic Doctor doesn t sound sure of herself. My husband and I are scared, and have to possibly wait until Wednesday to get blood results back. They tested for strep as well and was negative. He was a little sick the nights he had night sweats...flu symptoms but nothing bad. Please let me know what this could be or what I can expect, or what we need to do next. Thank you!

Hi thanks for contacting HCM...

Noted you have swollen lymph node in neck which is hard...

So here CT scan had done mainly for detection of primary malignancy any where in body if present....

Here your node can be matted.And it could be tuberculosis like lesion....
Or chance of malignant lesion like lymphoma also can be there....

So first I would suggest you to do simple investigation FNAC for it....
If it is not conclusive biopsy can be taken for histopatjological examination.

Causative treatment done....
