What Causes Hard White Flakes In Stools Of Infants?

3 month old boy: cries constantly since birth, doesn t nap, breastfeeding, cries during diaper changes, baths, constipation (recently given glycerine supp.) Ultrsound negative. Yesterday bowel movment had a hard white flaky pea sized object in stool. What could be causing all this pain?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have hard white flakes in stools of infants . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to may reasons , but in your case the white flakes are either undigested food due to various gastric problem or they are parasites like helminths . I would suggest you to consult pediatrician for proper examination . Doctor may order stool test , blood test and endoscopy . Doctor may prescribe H2 blockers , antacid , albendazole and laxatives .
