What Causes Hardened Substances Inside The Nostril?

over the past few days, i ve gotten a hardening substance inside my nostril. it feels like a hard booger. it ll soften up when i wet it with a qtip, but then it ll get right back hard again. it is painful/an irritating pain when i move my lips from side to side, or when i touch the scab or booger like substance. its on the bottom of my nostril. i never get nosebleeds..however, when i do blow my nose in the morning, i see specks of blood.. have any idea of what it could be?

Hello,

Your symptoms could be suggestive of a local inflammation/ infection. For this reason, I recommend using locally an antibiotic ointment and see if it relieves your symptoms.

If this does not help, consulting with an ENT specialist for a physical exam would be necessary.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Iliar Sharka
