What Causes Hardness And Swelling After A Rectus Abdominis Surgery?

I had rectus abdominus surgery last Thurs. to repair tears and a detachment. 2 days ago I noticed that my lower groin was the size of a grapefruit, swelling continues.It is also hard versus soft like swelling often is. What causes the hardness and should the swelling be cause for alarm
