What Causes Hardness Of Stomach, Back Pain And Bleeding After A D&C?

Could you please tell me if my daughter who has miscarried at Severn weeks and had a d&c yesterday should have a hard swollen tummy hardly any blood coming out a lot of pain in her lower back and tummy and be suffering terrible constipation and finds it very difficult to urinate is she ok. What can she take to release all the blood and be able to open her bowels

Hello ma'am and welcome.

If there is any blood accumulated from the miscarriage it is best that it is expelled naturally. If at all the miscarriage was not followed by any medications then we can provide medications that are used to medically terminate a pregnancy, but I do not think this would be necessary right now.

As for the bowels, you could request your doctor for laxatives. The uterus can put pressure on the surrounding structures like the bowel and bladder and so it may take some time till she returns to her pre-partum state. Drinking plenty of fluids and the use of laxatives like dulcolax should help.
