What Causes Headache And Dizziness After Head Injury?

Hi I recently (about a month ago) had a slip and fall accident and fell on my back, neck and head. I have been to the doctor and they diagnosed me with a concussion. I am continuing to have headaches al day long, dizziness, confusion, forgetting things, mixing up my words when speaking, super sensitive to light and sun. They referred to a neurologist to get looked at. Doctor says post concussion syndrome. So I will be getting a ct (as I haven t gotten one yet) and physical therapy. What I am writing about is about some time shortly after the fall I started to get bloody noses when I would blow my nose. It was always brought on by blowing my nose. I am not getting them about every other day. It will be fast and a lot.. but would stop within a few minute. Until today .. actually right after the doctor - I blew my nose and I had immediately gotten a bloody nose. I couldn t get the tissues fast enough. It was the worst bloody nose I have ever experienced and lasted for 25 minutes. It was huge clots of blood just coming out. Soon after the bloody nose my constant headache then went to extreme pain and within 5 minutes the tip of my tongue went numb. The numbness in the tongue has started to fade but the extreme headache is still happening. Are the bloody noses related to the head injury and possibly be something worse or do I have two separate things occurring? Should I have told the neurologist about the nose bleeds?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms are indicative of internal injury, trauma that is causing bloody nose. Constant headache, numbing of the tongue along with the other symptoms that you have mentioned is also indicative of major internal injury. You are advised to visit ER, get clinically examined & evaluated by a GP. Get a complete medical check-up done that should include your head, neck & back.

Get required blood tests, imaging tests (X-ray, CT, MRI, EEG) done to detect internal trauma, internal bleeding, injury to the neurological system and to diagnose the pathology that is causing you headache, dizziness & bleeding.

You may be referred to a Neurologist for Nerve conduction velocity test, biopsy, etc. so that any neurological problem detected can be treated at the earliest. You should be hospitalized and under observation so that urgent medical aid can be given, and treatment started.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
