Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Headache And Loose Stools Along With Muscle Pain?
I have been experiencing flu like symptoms for the past week. temp of 101 this evening, chills, headache, muscle aches. Some loose stool. Loss of appetite for food and beer. I had a flu shot back in Oct 2016. I have been staying in Tucson since the end of January. Could this be Valley Fever? What would you subscribe? I am male age 69, 5-10, 190 lbs. I have some coronary artery disease and I am a prostate cancer survivor (seed implant). Usually very healthy and active. I ride 150 miles a week on the bike. Non smoker, moderated beer/wine drinker. Thanks, Ed
Valley fever can cause similar symptoms to those of the flu and it is sometimes difficult to differentiate clinically.
Valley fever causes a typical rash in some of the patients which you seem to not have, and it does not cause diarrhoea generally.
Because you don't have the rash, you have diarrhoea and because the symptoms are for less than a week I would say it is very likely you are having a viral infection that is expected to fade within the next 2-3 days.
If you are not improving in the next 2-3 days or you notice any worsening you will need to see your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
