Had a MRI and it showed mild sphenoid sinus fluid. Headache, pressure, eye pain, dizziness, balance have been my issues. At the same time my menstrual cycle has changed from 28 days apart to 45 plus days apart. I m 36 my doctor took some blood work and my TSH was low. She is thinking my thyroid is hyper but wants to do a follow up blood test in 6 weeks. My question is would the MRI show the pituitary gland if I have fluid in my sphenoid sinus? TSH .446 T4, Free 1.2 ng/dL T3 Total 82 ng/dl
Headache with dizziness could be due to several reasons, like migraine, sinusitis, space occupying lesion in head, meningitis etc.Since your MRI shows fluid in Spenoid cavity it could be secondary to sinusitis.
As suggested by your doctor menstrual problem is due to hyperthyroidism. You will need further evaluation like thyroid scan to find out etiology.
Pituitary gland will be visible in MRI. In case of hyperthyroidism due to pituitary disorder will have high tsh and high T3, In your case it is low TSH and high T3, which indicates that primary pathology is in thyroid gland. Hope the answer has helped you.
