What Causes Headache, Left-sided Back Pain And Tingling Sensation In The Fingers?

I was released from the hospital last night at 11:30 after 4 days ( went to ER Sun morn at 9am). I went there because I have been having sharp pains, weakness and tingling in my fingers in my left arm, chest pains. bp at check in was 164/75, a little high for me. Starting sunday afternoon, my chest pain and shooting pains of varying levels continued along with belching, much higher bp (avg 195/90) and minor to severe headache.) When I would stand up, I would get lightheaded, dizzy and sometimes wobbly. Yesterday I had a heart catherization procedure and arteries were good. Currently have moderate headache, pain in my left back and tingling fingers in mostly my left hand. Earlier I was sweating profusely and several times had to stop walking and bend over to avoid passing out. I would go inside and rest to feel better. My wife wants to haul me to another hospital and hopefully and try to see a doctor that can solve this apparent mystery issue. Thanks for listening.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Well, there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in queries like a sign of nerve damage, repetitive stress, injuries, bacterial or viral infections, toxic exposures, and systemic diseases such as diabetes and peripheral neuropathy.

There can be other reasons also like nerve entrapment , carpal tunnel syndrome , ulnar nerve palsy, hormonal imbalances and vitamin deficiencies (vitamin B1. I would suggest you consult an orthopedic surgeon for proper examination.

The doctor may order a CT scan, ask for certain movements and complete blood tests.

The doctor may prescribe muscle relaxants, recommend physical therapy of arm and hand along with stretching exercises and recommend particular stretching exercises.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
