What Causes Headache, Nausea, Fever And Neck Pain After Taking Meningococcal?

My daughter has had a splitting headache, nausea, fever off and on, and neck pain since yesterday morning. The back of her head is tender to the touch and feels hot. She had a meningococcal (?) shot before going to college. We re trying to figure out what might be the problem. Thanks!

Hello,

We usually recommend meningococcal shot if the patient is not having any flu-like symptoms. I'm afraid you might have underestimated her current virus symptoms and might have carried out the shot anyway.

If I was her caring doctor would advise to rule out possible side effects of the vaccine, so better get her checked by her caring doctor. Meanwhile, should give her acetaminophen or ibuprofen.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
