What Causes Headache, Pain In Spine, Stiffness In Neck And Fever?

I have had a mild headache for a 10 days. The pain is tolerable most of the time, except for about 10 seconds after I go from sitting to standing. Then there is a terrible pounding that I have to breathe through and count to 10. Then it quickly goes back to being a mild headache. This headache does go from being mild to pretty severe at about 8 pm. I also started having pain in my spine at the same time this headache started. There is a shooting pain that goes about halfway down my spine when I do not walk carefully, and I definitely cannot run. My neck is a little stiff, but I have full movement of it. Ibuprofen relieves most of these symptoms except for the pounding headache upon standing. I have also had intermittent fevers. (Mostly in the evenings as well). Any ideas?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* The pounding headache, evening rise fever, stiff neck can be part of underlying disorder as inflammation through tuberculosis spine, disturbances in labyrinth path of the inner ear or else.

* In my clinic, after clinical examination and thorough history, I suggest for basic evaluation parameters to be seen like

- complete hemogram

- Erythrocyte sedimentation rate ( ESR )

- C reactive protein ( CRP )

- x-ray spine ( cervical and lumbar )

According to the results of above, one may need MRI as well as per the clinician concern.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
