What Causes Headache Post Paint Fume Inhalation?

Hi, I recently agreed to a friend to paint something for her, it s a picture on a huge canvas and I used regular paint and a lot of spray paint, but I did it in my bed room with the windows and door open, now I have a bad headache and I think I might have inhaled it, is this serious?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
It will probably not cause long term problems but having headaches is not surprising. There are a lot of volatile organic compounds in paint and especially in spray paint. This sort of work should only be done outside or with excellent ventilation. Drink lots of water and take 1000 mg of vitamin C twice a day for several weeks. Vitamin C is an antioxidant and can help you clear out the toxins that you have inhaled. If you feel short of breath or if your headaches do not clear in a few days see your doctor.
