What Causes Headache, Stomach Pain And Fever Despite Giving Tylenol?

My 8 year old son woke with a headache yesterday, gave him tylenol sent to school. He came home with stomach pains and headache tempature of 99.5. He vomited once and headache got better, but legs atarted to hurt and rash appeared on chest and back and face. Went to bed and seemed better this morning and raah seems almost gone. He ate breakfast and was okay but at lunch only ate a little and felt awful and slept all afternoon. Now he has a fevee of 103. Not sure if i should take to er because dr is closed.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your son have symptoms of headache, stomach pain and fever despite giving Tylenol. Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to many reasons like food poisoning , food allergy, improper digestion of food, gas , acid reflux , infection of digestive system, stomach flu or colic. It seems to be due to viral infection. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to give child proper rest. Give child probiotics. If condition doesn't get better then consult pediatrician for proper examination. Doctor may prescribe antiemetic drug , antibiotics ,analgesic and antacid. You should give her sips of water or other clear fluids, avoid solid foods for a few hours try small amounts of mild foods such as rice and do not give your child foods or drinks caffeine , carbonated beverages , citrus and dairy products.
