What Causes Headache, Tired, Dizzy, Fever On/off, Loud Heart Beat, Head Spin?

I get frequent headaches and about 4 months ago I used to feel dizzy. I had myself tested but blood reports were normal. Haemoglobin count was 9.9. Then I consulted an ophthalmologist and realised that my spectacle power had increased. With the new specs the dizziness gradually stopped. Now again I have started to feel dizzy and tired and have been getting fever on and off. I feel scared and my heart beats loudly. I keep feeling thirsty although I ve been drinking sufficient amount of water. My head spins and breathing gets heavy sometimes with loud heart beats. What could be the reason for this? I m worried.

Hello. Thanks for asking from HCM.

I can understand your concern. This headache which occurred before and was due to refractive error of eyes, could be due to

: Increase in refractive error - In your complaint, you have not mentioned about consultation with ophthalmologist this time. It may be due to increase in refractive error. You should consult ophthalmologist and get your vision checked up.

If this is the reason, you will get relief after change in number of glasses

: Tension headache - It is one of the most common type of headache. It occurs due to eye muscle strain.

For relief, you should
: avoid bright light, prolonged exposure of light
: avoid prolonged working on computer/laptop
: get 8 to 9 hours daily sleep
: avoid mental or physical strain
: you can take painkiller like Diclofenac sodium after proper prescription

For fever, you should consult doctor or you can provide more details about fever/any other complaint in body in next question. It could be due to upper respiratory infection or urinary infection.

Your another complaint of bounding heartbeat (palpitation), breathlessness, excessive thirst could be a feature of anxiety/fever with headache. It will subside after relief in headache and anxiety after following above mentioned tips.

You are having anaemia (haemoglobin 9.9gm%). You should eat green leafy vegetables (spinach/lady finger), citrus fruits (orange/lemon), avoid drinking milk/tea/coffee within 1 hour of meal. You can take iron-folic acid tablets with vitamin B complex and C oral supplements after proper prescription for 3 months. It will normalise your haemoglobin. You can repeat your haemoglobin after 3 months of therapy. If it becomes more than 12gm%, then it will be a good response.

Hope it will help you. Still no relief, you should consult doctor.

Thanks. Take care.
