General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Headache after eating may result from abnormal blood sugar, TMJ (Temporomandibular joint) disorder, cold stimulus after eating or drinking something frozen or very cold or food allergies and intolerances etc. Too much or too little sugar in the bloodstream may cause headache. Your headache may result from reactive hypoglycemia that is a rapid drop in the blood sugar within 4 hours of eating due to overproduction of insulin in response to raised blood sugar after eating. Again, if you suffer from headache after taking a specific food or ingredient, then you may be allergic to that food or ingredient. Symptoms of food intolerance are usually digestive in nature and different than food allergies, may trigger headache after taking foods. In case of TMJ disorders, the affected joint is closely tied to the head area, chewing may cause a headache. Again, eating or drinking something very cold may cause changes in the blood vessels around certain nerves and trigger a headache. To treat and manage food induced headaches, staying hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids and avoiding the added sugar or artificial sweetened foods or juices, can play an important role. You should also try to find out the exact food contents that may cause your headache after eating and avoid that particular food for life time.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
