What Causes Headaches Along With Excessive Weight Loss?

I have been getting bad headaches for many months, causing me to stagger. A brain scan several months ago showed small cysts which did not look problematic. I m going to see a neurologist next week. I don t sleep much and I have lost weight as my appetite is poor. The Doppler radar of the carotid arteries showed pretty clean. I have been taking green liquid Advil caps. Do you have any thoughts about this? I m worried about an aneurysm. Would this have shown up in the scan? Thank you, very much. Marguerite

Hi,

Bad headaches are due to many causes. I hope that you are not hypertensive. Aneurysms show on a brain scan. You may need a fresh scan. Or let the neurologist access you. Anyway, for pain take paracetamol.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Varinder Joshi, General & Family Physician
