What Causes Headaches And Abdominal Pain Before Menstruation?

I've been having nausea, headaches and on off lower middle abdomen pain for a week now. My last period was nothing like it usually is ( no cramps, and mostly brown> usually very heavy and painful). i took 2 home pregnancy tests they were both negative. what could this mean?
