What Causes Headaches And Dizziness After A Head Injury?

My daughters boyfriend dove into the pool thinking it was deeper than it was. He hit the bottom really hard bruising his head, and scraping up his face and nose. I m concerned he may have a concussion or fractured skull. This happened yesterday and he still has a bad headache and some occasional dizziness. I m not his parent but they are not willing to do anything. Is there anything I can do or watch for to ensure his safety as he is staying with me for the next couple of days.

Hi,

Head injury needs a close monitoring, if he feels dizziness that does not mean he will be having skull fracture. This can be because of the psychological effects of shock.

You need to take him emergency room if he feels any sort of vomiting, continuous dizziness, unconscious or any sort of power loss.

Most of the times first 24 hours are serious in head injuries that I think has passed. You don't need to worry much but if he have any above mentioned symptoms take him to emergency room.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
