What Causes Headaches And Nausea?

My 11-year-old daughter came home and wanted to lay down. Was crying because her head hurt and she felt nauseaus. I gave her 200mg ibuprofen and she fell asleep at 5pm (very odd behavior for her). There is a bad flu in our area that has been changing over to pneumonia and that s when it gets critical. I don t know if I should let her sleep or wake her up to eat something so she keeps her strength. What should I do?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You can let her sleep. Rest is an important part of fighting off any infection.

It is quite likely that she may not have much of an appetite for the next few days either.
Drinking is more important, once she maintains a certain level of hydration she would be okay. Her appetite would return when she feels better (it would be an indicator).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
