What Causes Headaches And Sleeplessness While On Levothyroxine?

Hi, I started taking levothyroxine 25mcg back on December 19th. I take it in the morning on an empty stomach. I had no idea what the side effects were, I didn t figure it mattered. I never have a problem with medicines. But, the last couple of days I have gotten a headache, tonight I m having a terrible getting to sleep And I just feel jittery. I was laying here trying to figure out what might be wrong and then I thought of this medicine. Could I be reacting to this med? What should I do, thanks for your input.

Hi,

Suggestive of side effects of Levothyroxine. Based on the history you seem to have taken a slightly larger dose of Levothyroxine which apparently has caused headaches and sleeplessness. You need to consult your treating physician to adjust the dose of Levothyroxine based on the results of thyroid function tests.
