Headache has the following causes:
1) Tension headache
2) Cluster headache
3) Migraine headache
4) Headache due to sinusitis
5) Idiopathic intracranial hypertension
6) Headache due to nasal spur
7) Chronic idiopathic daily headache
Treatment depends upon the cause. However your symptoms suggest tension headache. Here are treatment options:
1) Medications like NSAIDS Ibuprofen, Naproxen,
Indomethacin, Ketorolac
2) Aspirin
3) Opioids only if the above medication doesn't work
4) Butalbital with aspirin and caffeine is fiorinal can be taken when the headache is severe
5) Various other combinations of
Acetaminophen with opioids are available
6) Non-pharmacological treatments for headache include behavioral treatments such as
cognitive-behavioral therapy, relaxation, biofeedback as well as
acupuncture and massage
