What Causes Headaches While On Acyclovir?

Hi I have 2 1cm tumors in my rt temporal lobe, there is some necrosis. At present I am being treated for HSV1 with Acyclovir and anti seizure meds. I should have results from the 2nd LP tomorrow. I am experiencing headaches that are new for me, could these be side effects of the meds? No other indication of tumors based on other tests, so what ever is going on in my head is primary. I had a single seizure 10 days ago

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Acyclovir has few side effects and headache is one of those. So it is commonly observed and it goes away later. If it persists for long and gets worse I would suggest you to see your doctor so that he will advice you on further appropriate steps regarding intake of the medicine or stopping it.

Your doctor is aware of the side effects of the medicine which are common but there are more benefits of it in your illness so he has advice you it. If you still have doubts you can always ask your doctor about it and clear the doubts.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
