Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Headaches While Suffering From Elevated Blood Pressure Levels?
My BP is 144/106 with medication. This is the second medication I’ve been on in the last 5 years. It was doing good at first but now seems to be high. Also having headaches and a few episodes of my face getting really red and feeling sunburned and itchy
You have not mentioned which antihypertensive you are taking. High blood pressure is a common cause of headache and your blood pressure seems to be on the higher side.
You should get yourself assessed by your physician as you may need a change in the dose of your medication or he may switch you to a different antihypertensive if he feels the need.
The sunburn and itching don't seem to be related to your blood pressure. It may be due to prolonged exposure to sunlight. Try applying a soothing agent like Lacto calamine lotion.
If you still not relieved, consider visiting a skin specialist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Nazma Amman
