What Causes Hearing Loss When Suffering From Eustachian Tube Blockage?
Hi :) I am 32, female, and was just diagnosed with a Eustachian tube blockage by a family practitioner. Symptoms included dizziness, hearing loss, ears that won t pop, sinus issues, sore throat, etc for over a month. He prescribed Amoxicillin and Prednisone. I ve already taken the first round, but I am worried. So far there is no improvement and the right side seems to be getting worse. Now it is completely numb and I can t hear anything in that side. Is this normal? Will it get worse before it gets better?
Hi.. Welcome to healthcare magic ... First of all I want recommend the correct treatment for your Eustachian tube dysfunction... You know this tube connects your middle ear and back of the nose..there by it ventilates the middle ear and maintains the pressure..which is essential for your hearing... Now coming to treatment I would like to give you tablet levocetrizine with phenylephrine once at night after food for 14 days..its a decongestant will help in opening up your eustachian tube.. Then oxymetazolone nasal drops 3 drop s in each nostril three times a day for 7 days...assist in ventilating the tube.. One manuaver called as Valsalva ...you have to blow air against closed mouth and nose...that is when you blowing pinch and close your nose and keep the mouth closed..so you can hear a pop up sound in ear..that is it opens your eustachian tube and ventilates the ear...do this 5 to 8 times a day for 7 days... By these suggestion you follow and consult me on healthcare magic after 7 days... Wish you a speedy recovery... Dr Paparaja S MBBS MS CONSULTANT ENT SURGEON
