For the last 4 months I have heard my heart beat in my right ear. I have been to the ent and had some fluid in my ear but was given meds for that and it cleared up but the heart beat did not go away so I was sent to have an ultrasound of my arteries all came back good but the heart beat is still there. I now have been having headaches on the right side of my head and find myself completely drained just plain out tired most of the time. I have an appointment with the neurologist next week. Should I be worried? What can I expect to go on and what could be the problem? Thank You!
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted your history of heart beats in ears. The commonest causes are: Hypertension, stress and anxiety; some other causes are inflammation in the middle or inner ear, glomus jugulare tumors and traumatic consequences.
Noted your history of ENT consultation saying fluid in the inner ear, fluid in the ear cleared up bit the heart beats remained. Hence I would advise in such a case to for for angiography and MRI of the brain and ears and other investigations as may be needed. The treatment will depend upon the findings obviously.
