Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Heart Palpitations And Breathlessness While Having Low BP Rate?
I have been having heart palpitation for five days that become much worse when lying down. Once in a while I also have a half second feeling of blacking out. No shortness of breath or any pain anywhere. I had an EKG that my Dr. said showed my heart was beating too fast in one spot on the test and sent me for a 48 heart monitor test. My blood pressure is low at 100 over 63. He also did a thyroid blood test. I m not over weight, I eat right and get exercise working on our farm. I have had a stress load working as a teacher for many years, and do a lot of extras for my school and church. Would you have any wisdom to share?
Hi, cardiac output is equal to stroke volume and heart rate. When stroke volume reduces, heart rate increases. It seems to be your case. Blackouts and lightheadedness may also be associated with low blood pressure. However, 100/63 is not so much low blood pressure. I think, you must go for a echo and rule out any cardiac issue.
