Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 38, 6', 175# no health problems, no smoking, no drinking, some anxiety once in a while I started experiencing a rumbling/palpatation? in the middle of my chest about 3-4" above my chest cavity. It lasts about 1-1.5seconds. It started yesterday and probably had it happen about 6x since then. What could this possibly be?
That your symptoms could be related to possible cardiac arrhythmia. Caffeine or alcohol intake or an electrolyte imbalance could also mimic this clinical situation.
Anyway, if the problem persists, I recommend going to the ER for a physical exam and some tests (a resting ECG, thyroid hormone levels, blood electrolytes, complete blood count).
An ambulatory 24-48 hours ECG monitoring may be needed to examine your heart rhythm trends for a prolonged time and exclude possible cardiac arrhythmia.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
