What Causes Heat After Operculectomy?

Hello, last week i got a minor oral surgery performed, an operculectomy to be exact. I was prescribed penicillin VK to help fight off any infection. I just finished them today, and now all of a sudden i am running a low grade fever. Although i have a fever i feel completelt fine, i just feel a little hot. What should i do?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain mild fever does not need to be related to Operculectomy procedure as it is already more than a week that it was performed and you have been taking antibiotic cover to prevent infection..
Also if you do not have any signs of any pain, swelling or difficulty in mouth opening after the procedure, therefore fever is not due to it..

It can be due to viral infection that is common cause for viral fever and can resolve in a period of 3 to 4 days.

As of now you can take Acetaminophen to reduce temperature and take sufficient rest..
Drink plenty of water and take sufficient rest with a nutritious and light diet..

In case if the condition worsen or fever does not resolve consult a General Physician and get evaluated and he can do a clinical examination and also advise blood tests for confirmation of cause and treat accordingly..

Hope this information helps..

Regards.
