What Causes Heat Exhaustion When Diagnosed With Epilepsy?

I am 67 years old with several health problems, but more and more I find myself using the wrong words in a sentence. It was really bad today when I was working outside in the heat, but I do it more and more. Would heat exhaustion cause this symptom? I m concerned about early symptoms of dementia. I was diagnosed with epilepsy about 10 years ago and know that can be an early warning sign. My seizures are well controlled by Keppra.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Difficulty recalling words can happen when very tired and the heat may make it worse. Patients with dementia are not aware of their memory problems so very likely, because you are concerned about this, this is not dementia.
On the other hand, it is very easy to check the mental status with a simple doctor's visit where the doctor will ask you to complete some tasks and evaluate your thinking, memory, etc.

I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
