What Causes Heaviness Along With Cloudy Film In Eyes Post Cataract Surgery?

In 2007 I had a small display of Scleroderma shown in a biopsy. I have had no further symptoms. In April of this year I had a cataract removed and I have had problems with my eyes since then...three new prescriptions and my eyes can be heavy, filmy, and annoying. My ophthalmologist is going to recheck my eyes again in hospital mid-Sept. It occurred to me that there was a possibility my having been diagnosed with Scleroderma awhile ago, it may be something I should mention to my eye Doctor. I am Celiac (Dermatitis Herpeteformis, Linear IGA disease) and am on a Gluten Free Diet. I would appreciate any information you might be able to give me. Thank you.

Hello,

You need to see your doctor again as you might have developed secondary cataract, the membrane which supports the lens implant becomes opacified. It can occur in about 20% of patients after cataract surgery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. SAMEEN BIN NAEEM
