Hi, so for a while now on and off I ve been getting a strange feeling in the side of my face, usually around the cheek and corner of my lip. It almost feels like that area loses strength or feels very heavy. But yet I can still clench my teeth, I can still smile and my face looks perfectly normal. It changes side to side when it happens. I also get very bad pins and needles and stiff feeling in my hands on separate occasions and have to move them to a certain position for the feeling to go away. I m not sure if it is related. Can you help?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of heaviness around the cheek and lips which seems to be mainly inflammation of nerve which is supplying this area i.e facial nerve. Dental infection is also one of the cause for these symptoms. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to visit general practitioner as soon as possible. You should go for complete examination and start treatment accordingly. You should go for facial stretching exercises. Till then take ibuprofen or Tylenol to prevent pain. Try to blow whistle and air from mouth to strengthen muscles. Apply ice cold pack in that swollen area it will subside swelling.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
