Hello,

Since you are under treatment for ear infection for ruptured ear drum and now are experiencing heaviness in the ear it may be indicative of ear congestion, ear wax build up, fluid in the middle ear or some allergy. You are suggested to get a follow up clinical examination done with the treating doctor.

Sometimes the ruptured ear drum during healing process may manifest symptoms like headache, muffled hearing, ear pain, dizziness, etc. To feel better you can take acetaminophen, one SOS when needed. You should get an audiometry test done to assess the improvement of the ruptured ear drum. You may need antibiotics and antihistamines if there is infection building up. Take medicines under your treating doctor.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
