Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Heaviness In Head And Feeling Sleepy After Increasing Insulin Intake?
1) I am a diabetic of 16 years 2) Since long 1 year my Fasting blood sugar floating between 200-250 ml. One month back doctor recommended for 14 units of insulin night along with tablets Gluco Red Fort (3 times) Jalara - 50 mg (one tablet night) statix -10 mg (one tablet night). 2) After using Insulin for 3 weeks he recommended to raise insulin 16 units. Accordingly I increased insulin and notice after 2 days head become heavy and eyes become light and too sleepy all the day. Immediately insulin reduced to 14 units. Even though eyes feel light and sleepy. Recent readings Trygliserides -350, Hdl-35 mgl, Total Cholestrol -175. Kindly advise.
Most possibly it is due to hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). You can check the blood sugar using a glucometer at the time of symptoms and if the blood sugar is found to be low, insulin dose must be tapered.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
