What Causes Heaviness In Head And Pale Eyes In Child?
Good evening. My 11 year old daughter has complained for years of a heavy head feeling. It comes on quickly, her cheeks flush, and under her eyes looks pale. The feeling can last 30 seconds to 15 minutes although generally they are a couple minutes long. Then she resumed playing and is fine. She was a micro preemie (25 weeks) with a grade 1 IVH that spread to both sides at 3 months of age while in the NICU. She was checked for seizures and that came back negative. The Neurologist thinks they might be migraines but isn t positive. She didn t feel the need for MRI. Tonight my daughter experienced facial numbness during her heavy head which she has never had before. But it went away quickly. Hoping someone can point me in a direction for her sake. Thank you in advance
As per my clinical experience, episodic flushing of cheeks, pale around eyes with heaviness in head may be indicative of underlying neurologic disorder with intermittent vascular compromise. The need of an MRI is obvious in this matter for the diagnostic purpose as majority of the clinical data would be turning out to be normal in this type of cases.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
