What Causes Heavy And Irregular Periods?

I am 22 and i have abnormal periods they come every 3 to 4 months and i started my period this month on the 5th its been lite to heavy back to lite with small clots. Im on my 10th day of my period and its back heavy again im scared and i want to know whats wrong with me.
